Original Lighting Solution
14 industrial linear lights were employed in production site lighting system. There were gas-discharge tubes of 58 W or 65 W involved in each light unit. The total input of each tube was 83,1 W including drivers.
Total 28 x 83.1 W = 2,326.8 W.
The production site was illuminated 16 hours a day, 5 days a week. Therefore, 5 x 16 x 52 x 2,326.8 = cca 9,679 kWh were consumed by the production site lighting system during a year.
Total energy costs were 1,626 EUR per year, when 0.168 EUR/kWh is cosidered for an average energy cost.
New Lighting Solution
We suggested a saving alternative for our customer: to replace the 28 gas-discharge tubes by 28 LED Tubes - T8 series (150 cm of length, input 25 W each). We kept the original drivers and the total input of each LED Tube was 43 W. Therefore, 1,204 W is required for whole workshop illumination.
The energy costs would be 5 x 16 x 52 x 1,204 x 0.168 = 841 EUR per year. The energy cost reduction is 785 EUR per year, if our lighting solution is implemented.
When counting the cost reduction, we have to consider the maintanance cost decrease, too. Originally, the gas-discharge tubes with a 12,000 hours operation time were employed. Our LED solution is maintanance free and its operation time is more than 40,000 hours. Maintanace cost saving is approx. 146 EUR per year (gas-discharge tube price and work price).
Total Lighting Cost Reduction
In this case, the total cost saving reaches 931 EUR per year, what makes 52%. The LED Tubes operation time is approx. 11 years, total production site lighting cost saving is more than 10,000 EUR.
